The CRUK Beatson Institute is a cancer research institute, situated in Glasgow with approximately 250 researchers split across 30 research groups consisting of PIs, postdoctoral scientists, PhD students and scientific officers. It is one of Europe's leading cancer research centres, supporting cutting-edge work into the molecular mechanisms of cancer development. As well as core support from Cancer Research UK, the Institute also receives an additional third of its total income from external grants and industry collaborations. It has an excellent reputation for fundamental cancer research, including world-class metabolism studies and renowned in vivo modelling of tumour growth and metastasis. Its research ethos is about excellence, honesty, openness, accountability, and integrity.
We currently have a position available to provide maternity cover (from Feb/March 2022) in the Wnt Signalling and Colorectal Cancer Laboratory as part of the CRUK ACRCelerate consortium. You will primarily be responsible for research projects aimed at developing and characterising advanced preclinical models of colorectal cancer, using a variety of in vitro and in vivo approaches. You will participate in collaborative projects with colleagues both within and outwith the Institute, while also providing support for our early career researchers.
The successful candidate will have a relevant degree and preferentially a PhD. Experience of in-vivo techniques and possession of a Home Office personal licence would be advantageous but not essential. Good organisational and people skills and the ability to multitask and act as a team player will be very important.
